Municipalities across Ontario want to fight Climate Change.
The Association of Municipalities of Ontario has created a Climate Change task force to address environmental issues on a local level.
Environmental Experts, scientists and municipal politicians from across the province will meet this fall at a conference in Toronto.
Councillor Deb Haswell is the Co-Chair of the AMO Climate Change task force.
She hopes to examine how both urban and rural areas can reduce their carbon footprint.
Within a year, the task force hopes to develop policies and action plans to reduce energy usage, conserve water, improve air quality and address health issues.
Haswell adds Owen Sound has already put a focus on changing the environment with a mandatory recycling bylaw, and anti idling bylaw.
