Changes are coming to the 9-1-1 system in West Grey.
Starting August 11th, callers will have to identify themselves as living in West Grey, and not in towns or villages in the area.
Mayor Kevin Eccles says the Bell Canada 911 data base will no longer recognize … Bentinck, Glenelg, Normanby, Neustadt or Durham.
Eccles says ambulance, fire and police are all up to speed on the changes and they don’t foresee any response time issues.
Mayor Eccles admits there are a couple of Mill streets in West Grey, but the street numbers are unique so there should be no confusion as to where the caller is calling from.
Out in the townships, Eccles says people will still be using their unique fire numbers and that won’t change.
He says previous change-overs in other areas have gone smoothly.
