The MP for Bruce-Grey-Owen-Sound is disappointed with the US for breaking down talks at the World Trade Organization.
Larry Miller says it’s just another example of how the United States aren’t playing fair ball.
Developing countries like China and India want a clause that will keep richer countries like the US from dumping bumper crops into poor countries and compensating their own farmers for it.
Miller says doing this is good for the people who need the aid, but it makes it harder for farmers in countries with those same crops to make their money.
He feels these talks are very important, and the break-down will have an impact on Canadian farmers.
Miller adds it’s going to hit home as well, as Grey-Bruce is the second largest beef producer in the country.
Miller says what upsets him more is because of the pecking order, Canada hasn’t even had a say yet in the trade talks.
He hopes something is done in the near future to get the talks restarted.
