Brian Knox of the Bruce County Highways Department delivered an update on Phase Three of the project to Bruce County Council last week.
Knox says a 600-metre section at the north end of the road has not been completed.
He says that is due to the uncertainty of what to do with the intersection at Highway 21 in Alvanley.
There has been talk about the Ministry of Transportation installing either traffic lights or a roundabout at the intersection.
Knox says they had discussions with officials from the MTO and realizes that the work on that portion won’t be done this year but the County would like to see the work cleaned up.
At the other end of the road, Knox says the original plan was to finish work about 3.7 kilometres north of Scone.
He says they are hoping — with the cooperation of Grey County — to extend that work a little to the south closer to Scone.
Knox also announced at the County meeting that the COMRIF deadline for completion was extended from March 2009 to October of 2010.
He says the two Counties made an application in 2004 for 12 million dollars.
But he says with asphalt prices going from 170 dollars a tonne to 800 dollars a tonne over the past number of years, we are seeing the ramifications on the cost of this project.
Knox says Phase Three of the project is estimated to be around the 4 million-dollar range.
