A big celebration in Kincardine today.
The restoration of the municipality’s largest building, the Walker House will be officially unveiled.
Walker House Administrator Rick Clark says the building is now a community heritage centre, where exhibits, programs and events will be offered.
He says the programs will focus around the history of Kincaridne and the surrounding region and be available for all to enjoy.
Clark says the Paddy Walker Heritage Society has invited several key people, including Huron Bruce MP Paul Steckle to the opening.
Opening ceremonies begin at 1 this afternoon with a “Gathering in Our Garden”.
Clark says the official ribbon cutting ceremony is at 1:30, tours will follow until about 4pm.
The Walker House was built in 1850, but severly damaged by fire in 1995.
In 1998, the Paddy Walker Heritage Society was formed and the ten year long restoration process began.
