Dr. Shelley Turner has joined the Peninsula Family Health Team.
Dr. Turner began work in Lion’s Head and Tobermory on July 1st.
She says she came up to Lion’s Head during her residency and had a chance to experience rural medicine.
Dr. Turner says she really fell in love with the area while she was here.
She says the area is a “home away from home” for her, since she grew up on Lake Winnipeg in Manitoba.
Dr. Turner says rural medicine is a good way to practice as a family physicians and she believes too often her colleagues shy away from it.
Dr. Turner says her days are already very full, with Lion’s Head having only four of the six physicians required for the area.
In addition to her clinic and hospital practice in Lion’s Head, Dr. Turner practices out of the Tobermory clinic every Friday morning.
