It appears some of our listeners have changed their vacation plans this summer.
Tourism operators across the region are getting a boost at home this summer.
Our latest news internet poll shows 58 per cent of respondents are vacationing closer to home because of the spike in gas prices.
Many say they will take advantage of the tourist attractions locally instead.
One person says if our attractions are good enough for people from the GTA, they should be good enough for local residents too.
Many people say they are going to camp for the first time with their family.
But the other 42 per cent of respondents say they will not change their vacation plans.
Some people say it’s still quite reasonable to fly to another destination in Canada.
Others say their vacation will just be cut short to make up for the extra gas expense.
