Bruce-Grey-Owen-Sound MP Larry Miller sees a few places in our region that can benefit from the federal infrastructure funding announcement.
Miller says it’s a good opportunity for the City of Owen Sound to upgrade the lagoon and sewage treatment plant, which sometimes spills into Georgian Bay.
Miller also sees a good application coming from the Town of Hanover for various road works.
He says the town might even be able to get money for their proposed recreation/aquatic centre.
Miller says it’s not something that currently falls under this program, but there is some talk that it will soon be added.
Miller forsees the application process for cities and municipalities to be quite easy.
He says the point of the funding is to get the money out there, and he doesn’t think the process will include a lot of red tape.
Miller is also excited that all the municipalities in our region fall under the Communities Component designation, which helps out smaller communities.
He says rural areas can’t be pitted against larger urban centres, because although the population isn’t as dense.. we still have transportation and infrastructure needs
