There are now restrictions in place for users of the East Linton water system.
The municipality of Georgian Bluffs has begun work on improving the treatment equipment at the water plant and replacing the filter system.
So residents connected to the East Linton water system are being asked to restrict their water use.
You can not water your lawn or plants, you can’t wash your vehicle or fill your pool and no bulk water taking is permitted.
Mayor Alan Barfoot says the restrictions are necessary because the water treatment plant will only operate at about 60 per cent while the work is done.
He says residents shouldn’t notice any other differences.
The first phase of the project was to install new standpipe and water mains and connect the plant to the water tower — and that is now done.
It’s part of a 16 million dollar project that paves the way for residential development at Cobble Beach.
But Barfoot says the work will also improve service and system reliability for all water users.
Barfoot hopes the work — and the restrictions — will end in 6 to 8 weeks.
He hopes the first homes at Cobble Beach — as well as the golf clubhouse — will be connected to the water system by mid September.
The developers at Cobble Beach are picking up 78 per cent of the cost.
