A Wiarton woman is looking for some special help for her son.
Cherie Peattie’s son Aiden began to develop autism at the age of 15 months following a flu shot.
Peattie says Aiden is now attending school and doing very well — however, she says he would really benefit from the help of an autism service dog.
Peattie says an autism service dog would help keep Aiden safe in traffic and also provides a focus for him in new situations.
She says Aiden unexpectedly bolted into traffic recently, and while he was unhurt, Peattie wants to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
Peattie says a dog has already been chosen for Aiden and is in the process of being trained.
The dog is a yellow lab named Hunter.
Hunter comes with a high price tag — $18,000.
Peattie is asking anyone who can help to make a donation to Autism Dog Services.
