It will be quite the sight in Southampton this weekend.
The Tall Ships will make a stop in the Southampton harbour at 10 AM this morning.
Gordon Webb — the Past Chair of the Marine Heritage Society — says the Pathfinder and her sister ship, the Playfair are scheduled to sail from Goderich.
But the Pathfinder may not arrive because it recently had to be repaired.
But Webb says the Playfair is guaranteed to arrive in Southampton.
Webb says bringing such rich history to the town is a great way to celebrate Southampton’s 150th this year.
He adds residents will be able to board the ships during the day — but they will not be able to go below the deck.
Each ship is 72 feet in length with a mainmast height of 54 feet.
The Pathfinder is a square-rigged ship designed specifically for youth sail training on the Great Lakes.
Since 1964 — more than 15,000 young people have lived and worked aboard Pathfinder and her sister ship, Playfair.
Both ships will sail into Owen Sound’s harbour next weekend as part of the City’s 3rd annual Marine and Rail Heritage Day.
