Ontario’s Opposition leader wants the Premier to help Tourist operators by eliminating the PST on hotels and Tourist attractions this summer.
John Tory says that would go a long way toward helping families who are facing huge gasoline bills to travel this year.
Tory tells Beach news he thought about cutting the provincial sales tax on gasoline, but says there is no way to ensure those savings are passed along to consumers.
Eliminating the PST on hotels and tourist attractions he claims, will get more people travelling into Grey and Bruce counties, staying in area hotels, going to plays, and taking in local fishing derbies.
The Conservative leader says Premier Dalton McGuinty seems oblivious to the problems the province is facing right now, including the loss of more than 45,000 manufacturing jobs in June.
John Tory is travelling the province getting feedback from the public and he says many people are concerned about their futures.
He says they are anxious about their jobs, and the future for their children.
