Owen Sound’s first Comedy Festival kicks off tonight.
Local Comedian Johnny Gardhouse will be the ringmaster to at least six Canadian comedians at 8 PM at the Roxy Theatre.
They include Terry McGurrin, Chuck Byrn, Darren Frost, Shannon Laverty, Tony Krolo and Paul Myherhaug.
Gardhouse says the group has been gathering at his cottage at Big Bay for a number of years now, and came up with the idea of having a comedy festival in Owen Sound.
The proceeds for the event will go the Owen Sound Rotary Club’s Legacy Fund.
Gardhouse says the fund helps families with low incomes send their kids to Camp Presquile.
He says he’s eager to bring his colleagues to town and raise money for a local cause.
Gardhouse his hoping the festival will become an annual event.
He recently had his own TV special on CTV and the Comedy Network.
Tickets for the event cost $35 and are available at the Roxy Box Office.
