Georgian College students in Owen Sound and Collingwood could be forced to cross picket lines once they start back to school in September.
Support staff at Georgian and 23 other community colleges have rejected a contract offer laying the groundwork for a possible strike.
More than 6,500 support staff rejected the offer in a provincewide vote taken July 10 and July 16.
The full-time support staff, members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, voted 79 per cent to reject the Colleges Compensation and Appointments Council’s latest offer.
On a separate ballot, support staff also voted 69 per cent in favour of giving their bargaining team the ability to call a strike.
The current contract expires on Aug. 31.
The union said it is hopeful that the strike vote will bring an improved offer from the colleges.
