It was all about the Beef in Chesley.
The Chesley Community Centre was packed with close to 800 residents and farmers last night as they got their hands on Bruce County Beef.
The Bruce County’s Cattleman Association held their 38th annual Beef BBQ and the night was also to officially launch a new campaign to promote Bruce County Beef
Bruce County Cattleman’s President Brian Dudgeon says the BBQ brings many people to get together to have a good time and get their hands on the best beef.
Bruce County Tourism and Agriculture Manager Chris Hughes says the campaign is a joint initiative between the County and the Cattleman’s Association to raise the profile on county beef.
Hughes says there is a huge movement now to eat local beef.
With the campaign, there is a website EatBigBruceBeef.ca and Hughes says the website is to show people what it is like to have Bruce County beef on your plate.
Hughes says the website is there for consumers and the industry to use it as a resource tool as it provides profiles on local farmers, recipes and the health benefits to eating beef.
Hughes says he couldn’t pick a better event to launch the campaign.
Dudgeon says the BBQ is always packed and says it’s one of the easiest to sell tickets to.
