Grades are being handed out on the conditions of the Saugeen watershed.
Saugeen Conservation released its report card of the conditions of its forests, wetlands, and both surface and ground water quality at last week’s Board meeting.
Board Director Luke Charbonneau says the report card shows that the conservation authority received some good grades on overseeing the watershed.
He says in particular the area along the Lake Huron shoreline including Kincardine and Saugeen Shores got great marks.
But Charbonneau notes that the wetlands portion received an “F” and says that is something that they will work on.
He says the grade was due to the lack of involvement in certain areas.
Charbonneau says overall both staff and the Board are pleased with the results.
According to Charbonneau, General Manager Jim Coffey calls it one of the finest documents he has ever seen.
Charbonneau says compared with other conservation authorities, the Saugeen watershed is in pretty good shape.
He says despite not getting as many “A”s as he would have liked he says this conservation authority has a lot to be proud of.
