A Meaford man has put his life on hold to ride his bike across the country for Sick Kids Hospital.
Jim Razeau left Vancouver July 2nd hoping to hit St. John Newfoundland by July 25th.
Bayshore Broadcasting News spoke with him as he crossed the Quebec border.
He says he saw an ad for Sick Kids in a Toronto newspaper and saw the trauma and pain the families went through on a daily basis.
Razeau figured if the kids were suffering this much..he could suffer a little bit as well riding cross country to help raise some money.
He’s been assisted by his crew made up mostly of family members including his wife, son and two sisters.
Razeau is averaging about 320 km a day on a bike donated by Wheel Fast in Scone.
His fundraising goal is five thousand dollars and Jim figures he’s about half way there.
The website to make a donation is ‘truly canadian bike tour dot c-a’ which will take you to a link for Sick Kids Hospital.
Razeau says he was forced to quit his job as a machine operator in Thornbury when the company refused to let him take a leave of absence for the trip.
However he says he’s not too worried about it and expects to land on his feet when he returns.
