If you have some work that needs to be done around the house or garden, you may want to consider hiring a student to do it.
The Service Canada Centres for Youth in Owen Sound, Walkerton, Collingwood and Goderich are holding Odd Job Week.
It’s an annual event to help find more summer jobs for students.
Youth Services Officer Laura Kerslake says they are looking for business people and home owners to post any type of odd job.
She notes the Centres across the region have some odd jobs available now and some other students who are looking for work.
An odd job is anything from painting to lawn cutting and babysitting and could be a one time thing or something you need done a couple of hours a week.
Kerslake says the odd job squad is a good opportunity for young students — those as young as 14 and 15 — to gain experience with their first job.
She adds they ask business people and home owners to pay the students minimum wage and then if they want to pay more than that they can.
Minimum wage is $8.20 for people under 18 and $8.75 for those older than 18.
