There is a new exhibit at the Bruce Museum and Cultural Centre in Southampton.
Marketing and Communications Specialist Mini Jacques says it’s called the Earth’s Climate in the Balance, and it has to do with climate change.
She says it is an interactive exhibit that talks about the history of climate change, some of the influences, and how it affects our lives.
She says most people think climate change has been in the news for the last five or six years when it actually has been around for 4.6 billion years.
The exhibit has a climate scale and a grocery-store style checkout and Jacques says it shows how people can make the right choices when it comes to the helping the environment.
She says people will realize that it doesn’t take a big corporation to make a difference.
Jacques says there will be a weekly climate change presentation every Monday afternoon starting today featuring 11-year-old Corrina Serda.
Corrina — daughter of Saugeen Shores Councillor and Climate Change presenter Victoria Serda — was certified to deliver the presentation based on the Oscar-winning film An Inconvenient Truth after being trained by former U-S Vice-President Al Gore.
Earth’s Climate in the Balance — sponsored by Ontario Power Generation — is running all summer long but Jacques hopes to extend it into the Fall so school children can come and see the exhibit.
