The Saugeen Shores skate park is not open just yet.
It was hoped it would be open for Canada Day, with a grand opening this weekend.
Skate Park Committee President Dave Butcher says construction is just not done yet though.
Major things however like ramps and pipes have been constructed at this point.
Butcher says the park is 4 years in the making, so waiting another few weeks to make sure everything is right is not a big deal.
Work is being done by the UCC Group Incorporated for $325,000.
Butcher says there is still $50,000 in outstanding money to be raised for the park.
He says on top of that, additions to the park will be made, like benches and picnic tables in the future.
The Grand Opening is now set for Saturday, July 26th.
Celebrations will include a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 in the morning, followed by unrestricted and unlimited use of the park, music, and a BBQ lunch.
It’s located at property behind the Plex in Port Elgin.
