Forget Calgary, Holstein’s the place to be this weekend for rodeo action.
The 7th annual Holstein rodeo continues today and tomorrow at the A-Bar-K Ranch.
The event is put on by the Egremont Optimist Club and organiser Bill Crooks says they expect as many as 15,000 people to come through the gates.
Crooks says all of their advance tickets have been sold, but tickets remain at the door for individual events.
Over 200 Cowboys and Cowgirls are vying for prizes in team roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, and of course saddle bronc riding and bull riding.
Tonight there will be a concert featuring Doc Walker, Megan Morrison, and Big Mike Callan.
A cowboy barbecue dinner starts at 4:30 PM.
Tomorrow starts out with a cowboy breakfast, with more rodeo action in the afternoon.
The Champion Awards Presentation takes place tomorrow after at 5:30.
The event is a major fundraiser for the Egremont Optimists.
