Construction on the Cobble Beach Development north of Owen Sound has begun.
In fact officials are holding an open house this weekend for prospective buyers.
Sales Rep John Zwart says there are two model homes overlooking Georgian Bay and the golf course which are all ready for walk-throughs.
The development will be done in phases.
Zwart says the first phase will have close to 150 townhomes, single detached homes and condo villas.
Eventually he figures they’ll have about a thousand homes in all.
Zwart says the Cobble Beach Development is targeting baby boomers who are retiring away from the urban centres and moving towards the water.
He says Owen Sound will attract its own new comers similar to Port Elgin and Southampton.
The average price of a home in the development is half a million dollars.
The open house goes today and tomorrow from noon to 5pm.
