The provincial government is giving families more money to access child care services.
Grey County is getting $155,000 while Bruce County is getting $141,000 and Huron County is getting $149,000.
It’s part of the McGuinty government’s $2 million package to improve access to child-care services.
Huron Bruce Liberal MPP Carol Mitchell says parent groups told her they needed more subsidized child care spaces and this funding will help.
Mitchell lays part of the reason for the provincewide package at the door of the Harper government.
She says the federal Conservatives pulled the plug on plans for a national day-care program, but the problem didn’t go away.
Mitchell says you can apply through any licenced child-care facility in the region.
The assistance is based on family income.
Families with a net annual income of $20,000 or less will be fully subsidized while those earning a net annual income of $40,000 or more will pay eight-dollars a day.
