Durham has two new doctors.
Dr. Anahi Martins and her husband Dr. Hernan Boniolo are the two new doctors in Durham.
The two are from Argentina and moved to Canada in 2003.
Dr. Martins says due to the poor ecomony in Argentina, she and her husband decided to move to Canada for a better future.
Dr. Martins says she and her husband looked at 27 different communities to start their medical practice and says after a long and hard process they chose Durham.
Dr. Martins says there wasn’t one issue which made them choose Durham but a whole bunch of issues and especially the fact it’s a rural community which is an area they wanted to set up practice.
Dr. Martins finished her schooling at the University of Western Ontario in London at the end of last year and her husband will complete his schooling at the end of this year also at the University of Western Ontario.
Dr. Boniolo is expected to join the practice in February 2009.
Dr. Martins says she will begin the screening process on August 4th for new patients.
Dr. Martins says she also has begun talks of opening a Women’s clinic back up in Durham after one just closed in the area in April after being open for only a year.
Dr. Martins says her husband is also looking at setting up a Sports Injury Clinic in Durham.
