Canadian wheelchair rugby tem member Jason Crone is at home for a few more days.
Crone, who was recently selected to Canada’s National team is home between training stints as he prepares for the Paralympic Games in Beijing this September.
Making Canada’s team represented a huge move for Crone who in very short order went from being a virtual novice in the sport to being a force with Canada’s team.
Even though he’s between training sessions, Crone states he’s perpetually in training.
He says he receives tremendous support from his family, his friends and from Andy Brown with the Owen Sound Attack.
Crone is grateful that during his time in Owen Sound, he’s afforded access to the floor at the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Center which allows him to freewheel and maintain his cardio.
He does admit that Owen Sound isn’t as well equipped as the National training site, but he still believes he gets a solid workout any time he’s home.
Physically, Crone says wheelchair rugby is a very demanding sport.
And while he’s at an age where he’s not experiencing perpetual pain, he is thankful for the assistance he receives from Brown in terms of physiotherapy treatments.
After his short stay in Owen Sound, Crone will return to the National Training center in B.C. and then depart for the Paralympic Games in Beijing, China.
The Olympic Wheelchair Rugby matches are scheduled for September 12th to the 16th.
