There may be some good news concerning the water levels on Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
Environment Canada’s Ralph Moulton says while levels remain at historic lows on the lakes, the year over year levels are looking better.
Moulton notes last year Lake Huron and Georgian Bay came very close to reaching an all time record low.
But he says because of above average precipitation over the last few months, the lake has come up about 35 centimetres.
However despite that increase, the bodies of water are still about 45 centimetres cm below the historic 100 year average levels.
Moulton says the good news is their long range forecast for the summer which could see water levels remain at the same level as last summer or actually increase by up to 20 centimetres.
Last year the levels on Lake Huron and Georgian Bay peaked very early in in June when normally they would not peak until late July.
