If you’ve been checking your local newspaper for a place to live — then South Bruce OPP have a warning.
In Walkerton there was an ad for the rental of a local apartment.
It appears legitimate but it’s a scam.
Police say when you send an inquiry about the apartment to an e-mail address provided, the reply asks you to forward a deposit to a person at a Catholic Church in Nigeria.
Once that’s done, the apartment keys will be forwarded to you.
South Bruce OPP conducted a search of the internet and located the exact same ad for the apartment in an Alberta, a North Peel, a Kenora, and a Timmis newspaper.
Police advise not to fall for the fraud.
