This summer marks the 150th anniversary of the first lighting of the Cove Island Lighthouse.
The director and curator of the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre, Barbara Ribey says they want to showcase the Cape Croker Fresnel lens for the special anniversary.
The historically significant lens was removed from the Cape Croker Lighthouse in 2007 and is currently being stored in Parry Sound.
Many of the Bruce County lighthouses were originally equipped with the Fresnel lens.
Ribey says it would be wonderful to showcase the lens and bring it out of storage for the public to see.
She says they are hoping to have it on a two year loan or possibly longer.
Ribey says there is something about water and lighthouses that intrigues local people.
She says this area is blessed to have such wonderful attractions.
The Bruce County lighthouses will be open for tours this summer, as they too will be celebrating the year of the light.
