It’s show time for the Chantry Singers of Saugeen Shores.
The group will be in the Nation’s Capitol for Canada Day celebrations.
The Port Elgin based 60-member choir will be part of something called a Unisong at the National Art Gallery on July 1st but will be performing elsewhere during their stay from June 29th to July 2nd.
Choir Director Ann Little and Vice-President Doug Gore both spoke with John Divinski on Soundingboard to talk about this exciting opportunity for the Chantry Singers.
Little says the Chantry Singers will be representing Ontario in a massed choir made up of choirs from across Canada.
The local group has learned ten pieces of challenging choral music, including O Canada and songs in English and French to be performed in the massed choir concert.
Choir Vice President Doug Gore the choir had to provide some of their work and references as well as they competed against similar groups in Ontario for the privilege of taking part in the Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa.
Ann Little and members of the Chantry Singers will be checking in with Soundingboard on tomorrow to report on how the trip is going.
