Officials with Grey County Tourism are preparing for a busy summer season despite the soaring gas prices.
The County officially launched the Getaway to Grey campaign this week.
It includes a new pocket guide with a mini map of Grey County and highlights outdoor adventure and family attractions.
Tourism Manager Bryan Plumstead says they decided on the pocket guide because it’s easily accessible and it tells people specifically how to get to a certain place.
Plumstead says some of the highlights in the guide include opportunities for you to hike, bike, paddle and swim or just visit waterfalls and scenic lookouts.
Plumstead also feels they will benefit from the soaring gas prices.
He notes they have talked to many people in Toronto, Kitchener and London who plan to come to Grey County because it only costs a tank of gas.
There’s also a Grey County photo contest that runs until the end of December.
You can enter a photo from your travels into one of 4 categories — Activity and Adventure, Nature and Wildlife, Community Events and Agriculture and Food.
The grand prize for the best photo is worth five thousand dollars.
