Grade five students in Grey and Bruce counties will have free admission to three museums and an art gallery in Owen Sound.
In 2005, the Tom Thomson Art Gallery started to give the free membership passes to the students.
This year, they were able to bring the Billy Bishop Home and Museum, the Owen Sound Marine and Raily Museum, and the Grey Roots Museum & Archives all on board.
Not only do the students get free admission for themselves and one adult when they visit any of the four facilities, they also receive discounts on classes and other activities.
Manager of Public Programs at the Art Gallery, David Huff, says they’ve delivered the cards to almost every school within the Bluewater District and the Bruce-Grey Catholic school boards.
He says they chose grade five students because they seem to be the perfect age where kids can start making decisions about what they’d like to do and see.
Huff adds if any grade five class or student did not receive a card at school, they can pick up one at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery.
The cards expire at the end of June 2009.
