School is out for thousands of kids in Bruce and Grey counties for the summer but for nearly three dozen teachers with the Bluewater District school board, school is over for good.
Declining enrolement is blamed for some 30 teacher cuts in the system.
Chair Ross King says there will be some 660 fewer students in the Bluewater system this fall.
In fact, enrolement has fallen from 22 thousand pupils five years ago to about 18 thousand.
Bluewater board chair Ross King adds the early projection of 30 plus teaching jobs being cut, may end up being a bit less by September.
King adds along with declining enrolement, the board is being squeezed on the energy front.
Not only is the cost of busing students soaring, the cost of heating the schools is going way up, and the Board chair says Queen’s Park is not offering any more money this year.
