2008 Marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Southhampton and a celebration is set to go the weekend of August 14th.
The four day celebration is all about history and culture.
Yesterday the 150th anniversary committee along with the mayor of Saugeen Shores were on hand for a media day boat tour to Chantry Island.
Mayor Mike Smith says his family has been in Saugeen Shores for a number of generations and the celebration truly means a great deal to him.
He says his father was involved with council at the time of the 125th anniversary so to be involved 25 years later is special
The upcoming party is highlighted with different dances for kids and adults with music featuring the best of local jazz, folk and roots musicians.
Among other events there’s a car show, BMX dirt bike motorcross, and a beach volleyball tournament.
Mayor Smith says council will be re-inacting the original council meeting as well and laughing he says he will not be nominated for an academy award.
