That stretch of pylons in north Port Elgin signals the start of a major road project.
Saugeen Shores Director of Engineering Dave Burnside says work is getting underway for the widening of Goderich Street from River Street to Tomlinson Drive.
The road will be made into a four-lane highway.
Burnside says the work includes replacing sanitary and storm sewers and the constructon of sidewalks as well.
He says with the beginning of the tourist season upon us, the contractor plans to keep two lanes of traffic open at all times during construction.
Burnside says there may be the odd occasion when traffic is reduced to one lane with flagmen on duty.
The project should be completed by August at a cost of just over 1.6 million dollars.
