It’s been a great year for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation.
At its annual meeting recently, chair Brian Wakelin reported the foundation had doubled its fundraising for the hospital.
Wakelin says $600,000 was realized this past year compared to just over $300,000 the year before.
He says the money is used to buy expensive equipment for the facility in Southampton.
Last year the foundation foot the bill for a brand new ultra-sound machine.
Wakelin says in the past decade, they have raised over three-million-dollars for the hospital.
Looking ahead, the foundation is trying to set up an endowment fund nest egg that would generate interest, which would be used to continue the financing goals of the hospital’s foundation.
Wakelin, who was elected to the chair for a third term, says the fund would be a legacy from the foundation board to the hospital.
