Striking OPSEU workers at the Grey Bruce Health Unit are hoping the board of health will have a change of heart and send negotiators back to the bargaining table.
The Grey Bruce Health unit board meets this morning at 9:30 and an item sure to be on the agenda is the lengthy strike, which began May 1st.
Linda Owens says the 27 clerical staff are frustrated that management is refusing to budge on the wage of 3% a year in each of the next three years.
The union spokesperson says the April wage offer from the Health unit was almost identical to one made in November.
Owens says the union wants a 4.7% hike in each year, which she says will simply put the workers in the middle of the pack in the province.
Right now, OPSEU says the striking workers are paid 10 to 35 per cent less than similar employees at other Ontario health units.
Conciliation talks in the past failed to find any common ground and the strike is entering it’s 8th week.
