Bob Graham will continue to lead the direction of the Hanover and District Hospital.
Graham returns as Board Chair for a third straight term after he was acclaimed during last night’s election of officers.
Graham says he is very happy that the hospital is in good financial shape despite the lack of funding from the government and is not under the gun to avoid deficits like other health services.
He adds the hospital finished fiscal 2007 with a surplus of $300,000.
Graham says the one regret he has had during his two years as Board Chair is that they were not able to implement a nuclear medicine program.
He says the Board decided last night to continue pursuing a nuclear medicine program for the hospital for as long as they can.
Graham says the Local Health Integration Network is just laying out the blueprint of where to allocate the services in the area.
He says it would make sense to wait until the LHIN makes their decision.
Graham says he is encouraged by the development of a hook up that will allow health care professionals within the LHIN to view scans and x-rays clearly from any hospital.
He says that will make a big difference especially when sending and receiving CAT scan images to and from their radiologist.
He says he heard that it could be up and running as early as September.
