The Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation brought their first annual Sears National Kids Cancer Ride to the area yesterday.
The 48 riders began their journey in Vancouver, and within 10 short days, have made their way so far to Owen Sound.
Head of Sponsorship Development, Michael Smith, says their goal is to raise 1.5 million dollars for children living with cancer.
He says along the way, people have been very encouraging, opening their homes, businesses, and wallets to the foundation.
Smith says people really take it to heart that this ride is for the kids, and 100 per cent of their fundraising goes to fight childhood cancer.
One rider, Fred Roberts, from Toronto, says he’s riding for a child he met who died of leukemia.
Roberts says the subject does hit close to home for him, as both his parents are cancer survivors.
Roberts adds the ride has been tough, but they’ve been training for months.
He says the hours they ride are harder than the actual riding itself.
The Coast to Coast ride will wrap up in Halifax on June 21st.
