The numbers look good when it comes to construction in Saugeen Shores.
Chief Building Official Jim Bell says year to date for May of 2008 totals come in at 39 million 5 hundred thousand dollars.
Last year that total was around 19 million 117 thousand dollars.
Bell says the biggest difference this year is the number of multi-family dwellings being built.
He says there was a time when they weren’t as popular as they seem to be right now.
Bell also admits, total dollars are up slightly, due to development charges added after March 1st of this year.
He says though, numbers will start levelling off soon.
When it comes to May construction in general, Bell says 8 million 57 thousand dollars in construction was realized.
That’s up compared to last May when 6 million 3 hundred 29 thousand dollars was realized.
