Two new doctors will be coming to Saugeen Shores.
Council last night agreed to a one-year contract that will see the husband and wife team of Doctors Kirk Hollohan and Deirdre Brown practice family medicine in the Town starting August 1st.
Both doctors currently practice medicine in British Columbia.
CAO Ron Brown says Doctor Recruitment Chair Kevin Carter has been in contact with the two doctors for the past year.
Brown says Doctor Brown’s parents reside in Saugeen Shores and have a cottage in the area.
He says they want to check and see if they want to practice medicine full-time in the Town.
While Doctor Brown is originally from Ontario and can practice here, Doctor Hollohan is from Newfoundland and is not licensed to practice in Ontario.
Brown says Doctor Hollohan will be under a mentoring program until he obtains his license.
He believes it will only be a matter of time before Doctor Hollohan gets his license to practice in Ontario.
