The newly created Saugeen Youth Coalition will attend Saugeen Shores Council for the first time Monday.
Spokesperson Patty Underwood says they are looking for town support.
Underwood says they are not asking for anything financial at this point.
She says they want the town to reconize them as a group.
Underwood says that way, they can go to council at a later date requesting various things, like permission to draw on town sidewalks with chalk for promotion and transportation.
The group contains both those adult and youth over the age of 12.
Its goal is to create a more youth friendly atmosphere within Saugeen Shores.
Eventually, Underwood says she hopes the town will help them become a Youth Friendly Town.
Of 16 criteria on a checklist, 10 must be met before Saugeen Shores would be considered Youth Friendly.
The group ultimately wants to see more youth friendly activities and feel welcome within their own community.
