The Lewis Park revitalization project in Ripley is almost over when it comes to fundraising.
Revitalization committee member Joye Hunt says they’re about $3,000 short of the goal of just over $233,255.
The latest deposit in the bank was $23,000, the net proceeds from their Splash of Spring gala held in late May.
Hunt says work on Lewis Park will begin by mid-July and the park should be ready by late August.
She said the project had a three-year plan but because all of the money has been pretty well raised, the initial project will end this year.
When completed, Lewis Park in Ripley will have a splash pad, landscaped lawns with mature trees, family washrooms, upgraded walkways, picnic shelter and playground.
Hunt says they hope to complete their fundraising July 4th with a special movie showing in Ripley.
She also says they have a few remaining engrave-a-stone spots left for those people wishing to have their names engraved in the park.
