A new exhibit is all set to open at the Billy Bishop Heritage Museum
The new exhibit will open today and is called “The Life of an Ordinary Boy”.
Museum Curator Mindy-Gill Sitosky says the exhibit is located in Bishop’s boyhood bedroom and is about his childhood years from when he was born until he left for Royal Military College in 1911.
Bedroom furniture will be on display and toys from the Bishop family will be featured including objects that were found in the attic during the most recent renovations at the museum.
Museum Manager Mary Smith says part of the new exhibit a ribbon cutting ceremony is set for 11 A.M. followed by activities in the afternoon.
Smith says just before the ceremony a short parade will occur outside the museum which will feature local war veterans.
Smith says after the ribbon cutting ceremony local war veterans will be telling their childhood stories from noon to 3 P.M..
Smith says there will also be a BBQ, 6 feet model air planes will be on display to fly and crafts for kids.
The BBQ is 5 dollars and free for veterans.
Smith says the Land Force Central Area Training Centre will be displaying military vehicles and weapons used today.
Museum Board Member Lewin says there were also be renancments of World War One, World War II and 1812
The Billy Bishop Heritage Museum is located at 948 3rd Avenue West in Owen Sound.
