Golfing for Crimestoppers in Bruce and Grey Counties.
The 16th annual event gets underway on Thursday at the Chippewa Golf and Country Club in Saugeen Shores.
On Soundingboard Crimestoppers program coordinator Dean Rutherford said it doesn’t happen very often but they’ve had some people drop out of the sold out affair, so they have some openings.
He says golfers can register by calling him at 519-371-6078 or if need be, you can even call the Crimestopper TIPS line at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Failing that, you can just show up at the golf course on Thursday morning.
Rutherford says their guest golfer this year is former National Hockey League great Dale Hawerchuk, along with several other NHL players.
They hope to raise $20,000 this year and if they do so, they will hit the $300,000 mark for money raised during the 16 years of the tournament.
Rutherford says the money helps fund the Crimestoppers program which is not funded by government agencies.
The cost for the day is $130 of which you’ll receive a $50 tax receipt and you’ll have an opportunity to win a bag full of prizes.
