Don’t put away the axe just yet.
The Bluewater District School Board still needs to chop over 500 thousand dollars from their 2008-2009 budget.
A third draft was presented to the Board’s Business Committee yesterday which shows total expenditures now at 184 million dollars.
Superintendent of Business Brenda Booth says the Board will be having discussions with senior administration teams in upcoming meetings today and next week.
She says all areas of the school board budget is under consideration for cuts but is hoping to keep much of the cuts away from students as possible.
Booth says they have come a long way since the first draft that saw a 2 million-dollar shortfall.
Booth says they have managed to find some additional revenue that they can put towards the budget.
She says they may also be looking at changing some of the ways the school board does business.
The budget needs to be balanced and finalized by June 17th.
