Port Elgin’s Jeff Preston has taken his message of accesible transportation to the Port Hope/Cobourg area.
On Soundingboard Preston was in good spirits today as he spends a few days in Cobourg helping observe Disabilities Awareness Week.
Preston says he enjoys the smaller communities and although his Toronto visit was important, it can get tiring.
He says one thing he’s learned is that a blast of the horn means one thing in Toronto while it means quite another in the country and in smaller communities.
Preston says he was getting annoyed with the horn blasts of motorists in Toronto who wanted him out of the way.
On the other hand, in the country, those blasts of horns was really a show of support for what he is trying to do and he was very appreciative.
While in Cobourg, he had some fun too showing some school students how to “pop a wheelie” in his wheelchair.
When asked about it, Preston replied, “boys with their toys.”
He says he can get away it now because his mom is not around to scold him.
The Jeff Preston Mobilization March continues until the end of June when he reaches Ottawa.
Preston next checks in on Soundingboard on Thursday, June 12th from Gananoque, in Eastern Ontario.
