Are you prepared for a disaster at your home or business?
That was the question asked last night by the Managing Director of the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction
Glenn McGillivray says Canadians are under the impression that natural disasters don’t happen in the country, which is a dangerous assumption to make.
He says we don’t usually see large disasters and that makes people assume that their homes and businesses are safe.
McGillivray says small businesses need to prepare ahead of time to make sure they can get running and doing damage control if a disaster like a fire or flood hits.
He says the ICLR offers a free kit called ‘Open for Business’.
It allows small business owners to keep all of their important information in one place — away from their business — so they are able to notify clients and suppliers, as well as employees.
