There is an issue regarding the number of Bluewater First Nation trustees.
The Bluewater District School Board and the two local First Nations will meet on June 9th to talk about native trustee representation.
Board Chair Ross King says the Nawash and Saugeen bands both would like to have trustees on the board but the province allows only one.
Currently, First Nations Trustee Natalka Pucan sits on the board, and was appointed by the Chippewas of Saugeen First Nations Band Council.
However, the Chippewas of Nawash Band Council would like to designate Gail Nadjiwon as their board rep.
Both band councils feel there has been a lack of full consultation at the board level.
King says both First Nations were not satisfied at leaving the issue in the hands of the Aboriginal Advisory Committee.
He says they are hopeful they can come to an agreement on how the issue should be handled.
