Work is about to begin on the Port Elgin Connecting Link project.
The Town of Saugeen Shores recently received 1.68 million dollars from the province to widen Goderich Street between River Street and Tomlinson Drive widen to four lanes.
Director of Engineering Services Dave Burnside is happy they were able to secure provincial funding for the project — which covers 90 per cent of the cost.
Part of the criteria will be for the Town to return any funding that is not used.
Burnside says there will also be new sanitary sewers and curb and gutters along that stretch.
He says sidewalks are also being considered but that is outside of the connecting link program and will be funded through other sources.
The total cost of the project is around 2.3 million dollars.
