Huron-Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell is speaking out over Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory’s suggestion to get rid of the retail sales tax.
Tory says between Victoria Day weekend and Labour Day, the retail sales tax on Ontario hotels and attractions should be taken away.
He says this would boost the economy and stimulate the tourism industry.
But Mitchell says there cannot be a reduction in taxes and an increase in services at the same time.
She says Tory has a lot of quick answers for hard questions and the province needs a well thought-out plan to boost tourism and the economy.
Mitchell says there will be a lot of challenges especially in Huron-Bruce over the summer, which is a very tourism rich area.
Mitchell says she is encouraging the people of Ontario to stay at home this summer and explore the province.
She says there is so much to do and see in the province and when people appreciate their own province, others will too.
